Ride in the combine (video)

Loved my first ride in the combine, and learning about all the technology they use. These machines are so sophisticated! The heads push the crops toward a cutter, and then the cobs are conveyed to a threshing drum that beats them to break and shake the kernels away. The stalks and chaff are separated from the grain, which goes into a tank. When the tank is full, the driver can switch on an elevator to shoot it out of a pipe into a trailer that someone else (in this case, Keith) drives alongside the combine.

Watch the grain shooting out of the elevator into the trailer pulled by a tractor driven by Keith, running alongside us as we pick.
